Summary

FSLake Champlain Bikeways lists 1,355 network miles of bike routes in the vicinity of Lake Champlain.

one easy route is the Island Line Trail,  a 13 mile trail connecting Burlington to thne Island of South hero by causeway and bike ferry. Once on the island , we can chose any number of 5 bike trails totalling 64 miles, or take the Ferry to Plattsburgh NY. or head North  along the Richelieu River toward Montreal. The islands trails are relatively flat, the lake, and the Adirondaks and Green Mountains are always in view.

As a minimum i am suggesting a easy 23 mile ride to the North Hero Hotel, have lunch in North Hero, and then the group can choose, 1) return to burlington, 2) hang out on the beach, rent canoes, cayaks, 3) continue touring the islands, or  take Ferry to Plattsburg.

I am open to suggestions, i suggest  at least spending Saturday night at the North Hero House and returning to Burlington via bike ferry Sunday  making it at a minimum, a very very easy and leisure 54 mile round trip for some,

Should you choose to make this a one day excursion, the bike ferry closes  daily at 6PM.

There are a number of camping sites as well as a hostel, however i like the North Hero House, it has all the requiremants for a decadant holiday; a beach, a bar, dining room,. rooms avaliable for 1-4, rates include breakfast.  www. Northherohouse.com.
