Summary

This moderate hike will last about 2 1/2 hours and will take the Yellow trail up to Waramaug's Rock, the pinnacle overlooking Lake Waramaug.  If there's snow on the ground, it will be a snowshoeing extravaganza.  Otherwise, just bring good boots and perhaps some poles to give you balance.

The Macricostas Preserve is part of the Steep Rock land Trust.  The photo used here is from the warmer weather.  Imagine the same view but without all the leaves.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

We will meet at the trailhead which is at the parking lot by the Isaac Camp House.  The address is 124 Christian Street, New Preston, CT 06777.

It's near the junction of route 202 and 47.  The Isaac Camp House is an old red house and is visible from the road.
