About me:
: Easy-going, laid-back
outdoorsy Taurus
here - always looking for new
outdoorsy
buddies to share new places and
experiences with. Lets go!
"If you never have, you
should. These
things are fun and fun is
good." -Dr
Seuss

Favorite Places:
: Oh Gosh, where do I begin?
How about
I try to do this by theme?
There are
many more places than I
can mention
here, but here goes:
Campsite: Giant Ledge,
Catskill Mtns,
NY. Quite possibly the best
view of all
legal backcountry campsites
in the
Northeast, not too difficult
to get to, yet
still remote
Swimming Hole: Rock Run,
Endless
Mtns, PA. Pennsylvania's
Endless
Mountains are a lot nicer
and far more
remote than most people
think.
Perhaps the Northeast's
best kept
secret - lots of excellent
places to go for
a dip.
Hiking Trail: North Fork Mtn,
WV
Wilburn Ridge, Mt Rogers,
VA and the
Presidential Traverse, White
Mtns, NH.
Can't decide the non-stop
views on all
three of these will leave you
dragging
your jaw several miles
behind from
sheer awe.
Water: Isle Royale NP, MI.
Moose,
lakes, harbors, and one of
the most
peaceful places I've ever
been to in my
life. Also worth mentioning:
Allagash
Waterway, ME - there's
nothing else
on the east coast like it.
Nothing.
Beach: Gunnison Beach,
Sandy Hook,
NJ. Yeah its a bit of a
departure from
the remote settings above,
but its nearby, and has nice views
of a
different kind.
Car Camping: Acadia NP,
ME. Forest,
mountains, beach. Must I
say more?
Just can't seem to keep
away from
Maine - it really is like the
promised
land.
All-out Wilderness: Nabesna Slope,
Mt
Jarvis, Wrangell-St Elias National
Park,
Alaska. Half a day's drive on the
highway
northeast of Anchorage, it really is
like
nothing in the lower 48. The Last
Frontier.
Honorable Mentions:
Devils Path, Catskill Mtns,
NY
Adirondack Park, NY
Loyalsock Trail, PA
Black Forest Trail, PA
Cranberry Wilderness, WV
Dolly Sods Wilderness, WV

Outdoor Experience:
: Avid backpacker, hiker,
camper, skier -
have all kinds of gear for
those and
always looking to improve it
- total REI
junkie in the making :)
I'm open to trying just
about anything
else. If it's outdoors, I'm
probably
interested enough to at
least listen and
then we can take it from
there :)
"Twenty years from now,
you will be
more disappointed by the
things you did
not do than the ones you
did. So throw
off bowline. Cast away from
the safe
harbor. Catch the trade
winds in your
sails. Explore. Dream.
Discover." -
