SUMMARY: Join us for this loop hike to From the AMC Lodge, we will hike up the Manning trail to the open ledges of Firescrew summit. From Firescrew, we will continue on the Mowglis trail to the main summit of Cardigan. We most likely will have lunch on Firescrew as there are far fewer people there than at Cardigan (but we’ll still take some time on top of Cardigan). From the summit of Cardigan, we will take the Clark trail down past the ranger’s cabin, and then take the There are some fairly steep open ledges on this hike, but the footing is pretty good. Rain will cancel as the granite ledges can be dangerous if wet - or another possibility is that we could change the hike to a similar distance loop hike to Welton Falls from the Cardigan Lodge if rain looks ominous (we touch base with those signed up for the hike a day or two before), but hopefully mother nature will cooperate with us.
