The worst thing I unknowingly did when I joined GO was to use an underscore (Walkabout_B) in my username. It lead to a dysfunctional e-mail system using my buddies list and a terrifying fear of having to delete my entire profile and history in order to correct the problem. THANK YOU for the new profile option to change a username! This solved my dilemma though there are a few side effects. BEWARE! When I changed my username I did loose two profile attributes. First, my entire Buddies List was wiped out. So be prepared and jot down your current buddies. Second, I lost my Events Lead list. Though, I was happy to see that the events I lead only migrated to the Events Participated list and did not disappear all together. Has anyone identified other issues?

This is one of those functions that we offered in the recent upgrade due to many member requests. The user name is what held all of our other databases together [poorly designed, I know] so I was always hesitant in offering this option. I made sure our forums database would not be impacted but I did not realize this would affect the buddies system and now the Events Lead display? I contacted Tech Support who told me this will require a lot of research to find out which database tables are impacted. In the meantime, I now have placed warnings next to the user name fields. I was told by our Tech Support folks you can revert to your old setting if you wish by changing your user name back to what you had before.
